Early life
Philip Rosenthal was born on January 27, 1960, in Queens, New York, to Helen and Max Rosenthal. He spent most of his childhood in New City, New York, located in Rockland County.
He belongs to one Jewish family and he attended Clarkstown North High School, where he was a member of the school’s drama club. He graduated from high school with a scholarship in 1977 and Hofstra University in 1981.
Career
Phil went on to work as a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art immediately after graduating. Phil began his career as a performer before moving into production.
His early works include Coach and Craig T. Nelson’s Baby Talk. He became famous as the creator of the popular sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
He has appeared in films such as 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Simpsons Movie, and is the host of the popular PBS series I’ll Have What Phil’s Having, which was later remade in the Netflix remake Somebody Feed Phil in 2018.
