Pinky Kekana was elected as a member of Parliament on 21 May 2014. As a member of Parliament, she served on several committees, including: the Standing Committee on Finance (Parliamentary Committee) and the Special Committee on Filling Vacancies in the Gender Equality Committee.
In 2015, she was elected to the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress Women’s League, and was subsequently appointed Secretary General of the Pan-African Women’s Organization (PAWO). She ensured that all women, “especially girls”, were equally empowered during her tenure.
