Pitbull Buys Miami University Football Stadium. Tells Students They’ll Help Write School’s New ‘National Anthem’

Armando Christian Pérez, better known as Pitbull, has purchased the naming rights to Florida International University’s football stadium. The deal, approved and announced Tuesday, gives 305 a five-year contract to call FIU Stadium Pitbull Stadium.

“Yes, we are going to make history at Pitbull Stadium,” Pérez said. “This is not just an announcement. This is a movement. This is truly history in the making.”

The singer-rapper paid FIU $1.2 million for the rights. He will also participate in the university’s image and likeness plans.

The deal includes 10 days of free stadium use for Pitbull. Additionally, his vodka brand will be the best-selling item at the stadium, and he will receive two suites and 20 VIP parking passes for all games. Last but not least, he will start writing a national anthem for the school.

“What we need to do is let the kids tell us what they want,” Pérez said in an interview with SportsCenter.

Pitbull plans to get students to help with the national anthem. He said he’ll include their “slogan” so they can stay motivated and ready to “play ball.”
