Platonic Season 1 Episode 9 Review

In the latest episode of “Slumber Party,” Luke MacFarlane’s Charlie discovers that Rose Byrne’s Sylvia first told Seth Rogen’s Will about her job loss, and then Only then did he tell Will in person. To Charlie’s further dismay, Will and his colleagues at the law firm discover that their pet lizard, “Jesper”, actually belongs to Will and not the stray that Sylvia claimed. This discovery further angered Charlie.

As a result, Charlie decides to exact revenge in this episode. When Sylvia tried to appease him by admitting her mistake in not confiding in her husband in front of her best friend, he sulked. However, the situation soon reversed. Charlie didn’t usually work late into the night, but he decided to stay with his colleagues and deliberately avoided going home to Sylvia. Joining him at the late-night party are Guy Branum’s Stewart and Janet Varney’s Vanessa. The three of them were very drunk.

When Stuart finally left, the possibility of something happening between Charlie and Vanessa became very apparent, and it did. Under the influence of alcohol and fueled by the energy of the dance floor, Charlie and Vanessa put on a performance that can only be described as “dry humping.” This lasted only a few seconds before Charlie suddenly recoiled in guilt. Unable to bear his behavior, Charlie immediately confessed everything to Sylvia.

During the slumber party, Will mentions to Sylvia that he has experience overseeing housing projects, a fact he has mentioned before in previous episodes. Sylvia was convinced that with Will’s help, they could convert their mostly unused garage into an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The next morning, Sylvia proposed the idea to Charlie, but Charlie strongly opposed it. However, Sylvia plays the “dry humping” card and Charlie reluctantly gives in.

Unbeknownst to Will, he finally confides in Sylvia’s friend Katie about Charlie’s infidelity to Andy. Andy reveals Charlie’s behavior to Will, leaving him both amused and confused. Will decided to discuss this issue with Sylvia at their next meeting, which happened to be at Sylvia’s house. Will recounts his infidelity during the final stages of his failed marriage to Audrey. Sylvia assures Will that her marriage is stronger.

Platonic Season 1 Episode 9 Ending Explained

At the end of the episode, Sylvia shares her disappointments and insecurities with Katie, but her conversation is interrupted when Will unexpectedly arrives. They decided to spend time together, sitting on adjacent couches playing video games. Later, Charlie returned home and hoped to be forgiven by Sylvia, but she was still hesitant. Charlie tries to win her attention by serving pizza to everyone and allowing the kids to have a slumber party with their friends.

As night fell, Will suggested converting the garage into a third room to create more space. During their conversation, Sylvia brought up Will’s relationship problems, prompting her to voice her concerns. Will admits to being unfaithful to Audrey, but explains that their marriage was doomed long before the incident. Sylvia begins to worry whether her relationship with Charlie will suffer a similar fate.

The next day, Sylvia shares her conversation with Will with Charlie, who expresses concern but avoids delving into the matter due to his current situation. Charlie also suggested that Will negotiate with Andy alone, and since they had a good rapport, Will decided to follow his advice. Progress seemed to be made when Andy promised to consider including him in a trade.

Additionally, Andy tells Will that Charlie has been engaging in inappropriate behavior with a co-worker, and Will learns about it from Katie. The next day, Will checks the garage with Sylvia. Will immediately notices its crude and fragile structure, leading to a shocking moment when a raccoon lunges at him, causing the roof to collapse. Fortunately, Will and Sylvia managed to escape unscathed.

Charlie rushes out to check on them, and Will takes the opportunity to leave them alone to discuss personal matters. He also promised to cover the cost of repairs. In a touching moment, Sylvia hugs Charlie as he expresses his desire not to be the second most important person in her life.

Sylvia admits she confided in Will because she didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of Charlie. This encourages them to commit to each other and be more honest about their lives. Will heads to the bar to meet Andy and Reggie, but upon arrival, he finds another person at the table. Clark, the lawyer hired by Reggie. Shockingly, they informed Will that he was being fired from the company. Will was infuriated and swore he wouldn’t be dealt with so easily.
