Post Malone fans furious over latest country duet, demand he return to his roots rap style

Post Malone has announced that he will be releasing a new single featuring country icon Tim McGraw just weeks after releasing “Pour Yourself a Drink” featuring Blake Shelton.

The 29-year-old artist – real name Austin Richard Post – also had huge success with his other country music release, “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen.

However, Post’s latest announcement has been met with backlash from fans who say the artist, who has previously released rap music, appears to be “misusing” the “country genre”.

The negative reaction came before Post released his debut country album “F-1 Trillion” on August 16, which featured collaborations with several other country music icons, including Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr. and Lainey Wilson.

@legendairyari wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that “Post Malone wearing jeans, boots, and a hat and releasing songs with all the right ‘CoUnTrY SiNgErS’ beats doesn’t suddenly make him a country guy.”

Another user, @bingmeupscotty, asked, “Sorry for my ignorance but I thought Post Malone was rapping or something but now he’s a real country singer? What changed?”

“Post Malone’s move to country music might be the biggest disappointment of the century and we have Donald Trump as president,” @Orfaly_ tweeted.

“This dude is collecting country collabs like infinity stones,” joked @HiRezTheRapper, while @error1oading declared, “Your country is definitely hot. But ‘Chemical’ is your best by far. Face it, man, stick to pop.”

“I miss when Post Malone rapped,” wrote @wickeddwitchh8.

Chart Masters Org on X recently named Post the sixth best-selling rapper of all time.

In addition to releasing his latest album, Post is also preparing for his highly anticipated “F-1 Trillion Tour,” which is scheduled to kick off later this year.

Kicking off in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 8, the 21-date tour will conclude in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 19.

The “Sunflower” hitmaker’s recent shift to country music coincides with a noticeable physical transformation that has taken place over the past few years.

Once tipping the scales at 240 pounds, Post recently proudly showed off his slim figure in skinny jeans paired with a white button-down shirt.

In 2023, he publicly discussed adjusting his daily routine, noting that he had lost 55 pounds and committed to a drug-free lifestyle.

The “Better Now” singer — who welcomed a daughter with his fiancée in 2022 — shared in an Instagram post last year: “I’m having so much fun performing and have never felt healthier.”

“I guess life as a dad has changed, and I decided to quit soda and start eating healthier so I can be with this little angel for a long time,” Post added.
