Priest allowed carpenter Sabrina to shoot controversial ‘feather’ video at church and was stripped of his position

Sabrina Carpenter’s video for her song “Feather” continues to stir some people.

A new report reveals that the priest who allowed the singer to film her music video in his church has been dismissed.

the Related press reports that Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello was stripped of his position on November 18 after church officials said an investigation revealed further evidence of mismanagement.

Bishop Robert Brennan said in a statement released by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn that Gigantiello had been relieved of “any supervisory or pastoral management role” after an investigation into Gigantiello revealed revealed that he made illegal financial transfers to a former top aide in troubled New York City. Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is being investigated for corruption.

The bloody video of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Feather,” filmed at the Annunciation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Williamsburg, has sparked outrage. In the video, Carpenter staged the deaths of several pushy men who were trying to attack her. The controversial final scene, filmed inside the church, shows Carpenter dancing in the sacred space during the men’s funeral. Wearing a short black dress and veil, she posed with religious items on the altar, including a coffin decorated with a sign reading “RIP B–ch.”

As a result, Gigantiello was removed from his managerial duties last November. At the time, Brennan said that the parish did not “follow the diocese’s policy regarding filming on church grounds, including review of scenes and scripts.”

Carpenter has since revealed that she got permission to shoot the video and said that “Jesus was a carpenter.”

In the statement announcing Gigantiello’s punishment, Brennan said: “I am saddened to share that investigations conducted by Alvarez & Marsal and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP have uncovered evidence of serious violations of the Diocesan policies and protocols at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish – Annunciation. To protect the public trust and protect church funds, I have appointed Bishop Witold Mroziewski as Parish administrator.”

Even though he was dismissed, Gigantiello was still allowed to celebrate Mass with Mroziewski’s approval. Gigantiello has also been removed from his fundraising duties. An ongoing investigation into Gigantiello’s use of a church credit card for “substantial” personal expenses is currently underway.
