Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Kalux Text to Speech

In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, players noticed something unusual about the character Kalux’s voice – it sounded like a common text-to-speech program. Ubisoft confirmed the use of text-to-speech, explaining that it was a bug and intended as a placeholder. Although there is full voice acting in the game, eight of Kalux’s lines were not implemented correctly.

SIDE UK, the studio responsible for dubbing, was not aware of Ubisoft’s dubbing design plans. Interestingly, all the characters in the game except Kalux are provided by voice actors. Ubisoft acknowledged the bug and promised a fix, but it won’t be included in the day-one patch expected in late January or early February. The incident comes as artificial intelligence and gaming and voice-over technology come under increasing scrutiny.
