Legendary Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91. An iconic record producer, composer and musician whose influence spanned more than 70 years, his death has left many grieving, most especially his daughter Rashida Jones.
The actress took to Instagram to share her emotional feelings, captioning the post:
“My dad was a nocturnal person his entire adult life. He kept “jazz hour” starting in high school and never looked back. When I was a kid, I used to wake up at midnight to look for him. Surely, he will be a nocturnal person somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet of music). . He would smile and hug me while he continued work…there’s no safer place in the world for me. He’s an icon. A genius my father but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel of his love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. .”
Pairing the post with a photo of her father holding her in a loving embrace, Jones continued: “I am so lucky to have experienced this love so close. I will miss the hugs and kisses and the His devotion and unconditional advice. Dad, it is an honor to be your daughter, your love will last forever.”
She received a lot of support from names like Gwenyth Paltrow, Katie Holmes, Quinta Brunson and Erykah Badu. Tracee Ellis Ross, also the child of a music icon, sent her condolences “Love you so much Rashida,” Ross wrote. “Thinking of you and your family, hugging you tight.”
R&B singer and close friend Kelly Rowland also shared her condolences, writing, “Rashida!! Sending you and your beautiful family, SO MUCH LOVE! I’m so sorry!!!”
