Rexxie Biography
Chisom Ezeh, born as Chisom Ezeh but popularly known as Rexxie, is a Nigerian record producer, sound engineer and entrepreneur.
Rexxie is an indigene of Anambra State, Igbo tribal state in Nigeria.
Rexxie is the founder of the current Nigerian music trend called “Zanku Sound” which many of Nigeria’s top musicians and producers have adopted when creating music.
early life
Rexxie was born in Anambra State but grew up in Lagos and Abuja. He is the eldest son in a family of three.
He spent most of his youth in Shomolu and Akoka, which accustomed him to the Yoruba subculture.
Education
Rexxie attended primary school in Lagos but later moved to Abuja for his secondary education.
He attended school at the Garki Public Secondary School, Abuja, where he studied music.
Rexxie holds a degree in Computer Science from the Taisoralin University of Education, Ije-Ode, Ogun State.
Profession
While attending Garki Public Secondary School, Abuja, Rexxie’s musical talent was perfect and in 2010 she became a member of the school band.
Prior to this, Rexxie played keyboards in the church choir. This further helped him in his musical journey.
Rexxie was a member of Music Perfect and a school band that covered pop songs, which inspired him to try to understand how pop songs were written. In doing so, he began to teach himself music production.
He returned to Lagos and devoted himself fully to music production. In Lagos, Rexxie produced several songs for emerging music artists which helped strengthen his music production skills.
In March 2018, Rexxie created a sound that he wanted to play for CDQ, but unfortunately, he was unable to make the connection because CDQ is a popular figure who is not easy to contact.
He met new artist Zlatan Ibile and played the song to him, which turned out to be “Jogor” which was written by Zlatan in collaboration with Naira Marley and Lil Kesh.
Rexxie played a few tracks for Lil Kesh and Naira Marley, culminating in Jakpa for Naira Marley, Again O for Lil Kesh, and Illuminati by Zlatan in collaboration with Naira Marley.
Rexxie’s biggest invention was the Able God beat he created for Chinko Ekun, a song featuring Lil Kesh and Zlatan. The single became a national anthem and won the headies award for best street dance song, all produced by Rexxie.
Since then, Rexxie has continued to churn out hits, becoming one of Nigeria’s fast-rising young producers.
