Early life
Rob Dyrdek was born on June 28, 1974, to Gene and Patty Dyrdek in Kettering, Ohio. He was active in sports as a child and started skateboarding at the age of 11. He received his first skateboard from a professional athlete, Neil Blender.
He loved skateboarding so much that all he thought about at school was how to impress people and did that until his parents made him come home. By the age of twelve, he had received sponsorship from the Neil Blender sponsorship company and sponsored Dyrdek to start his skateboarding career.
