Jenkins began his professional career at Barclays in 1978 as a graduate trainee. He quickly rose through the ranks to become head of private equity at Barclays’ investment banking division, Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW), in New York City.
He left Barclays in 1987 to join Kleinwort Benson, where he was Director and Co-Head of Financial Markets. In 1994, Jenkins returned to Barclays and set up a group advising companies on tax and regulatory management.
One of Jenkins’ notable achievements was his role in developing the Structured Capital Markets (SCM) division at Barclays.
He became an expert in analyzing and building tax regimes of many countries, contributing to the success of this department.
