Early life
Rory McIlroy was born on 4 May 1989 to Rosie McDonald and Gerry McIlroy in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland. After graduating from St. Patrick’s Primary School, he attended Sullivan High School.
His father was a seasoned golfer, previously playing at a low handicap level. After Nick Faldo demonstrated the correct grip, his father taught him how to grip a golf club.
