Early life
Ryan John Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Constance Marie Seacrest and Gary Lee Seacrest, a real estate attorney. His father was a lieutenant in the United States Army, and his grandfather was a major general.
He landed an internship at Atlanta’s 94.1 WSTR when he was 16. He graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1992 and went on to study journalism at the University of Georgia. Ryan Seacrest dropped out of college at age 19, but the University of Georgia later honored Ryan Seacrest with an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2016.
Career
Ryan was the host of the first season of Radical Outdoor Challenge on ESPN in 1993. Seacrest appeared as a host on Beverly Hills, 90210 as the host of the fake game show Lover’s Lane in “The Final Proof”.
In 2002, Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman co-hosted American Idol. He hosted its spin-off American Juniors in 2003. Seacrest took over as host of the radio show American Top 40 in 2004.
Originally from a studio at WABC-TV in New York City, he has been broadcasting since 2017. He was named one of the 16th Giants in Broadcasting by the American Broadcasting Foundation in 2018.
