Early life and education
Jagadish Vasudev, commonly known as Sadhguru, was born on September 3, 1957 in Mysore, India.
He grew up in a Telugu family as the youngest of five children. His father, BV Vasudev, worked as an ophthalmologist at the Mysuru Railway Hospital, while his mother, Susheela Vasudev, was a housewife. Sadhguru’s early years were spent in Mysore, where he developed a love for literature and poetry.
After completing his formal education, Sadhguru enrolled at the University of Mysore, majoring in English Literature.

In 1984, Sadhguru married Vijaya Kumari and they had a daughter named Radhe in 1990. Sadly, Vijaya Kumari passed away in 1997.
Radhe, who trained in Bharatanatyam at the Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai, married Indian classical singer Sandeep Narayan in 2014.
Career
Sadhguru’s career as a spiritual teacher and yoga practitioner began in 1982 when he began teaching his first yoga class in Mysore.
He traveled across Karnataka and Hyderabad teaching yoga and earned a living from the rent of his poultry farm.
