Early life
Sandhya Raju received her basic education at The School KFI Chennai of Krishnamurti Foundation, her secondary education at Bala Vidya Mandir in Chennai and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Osmania University.
At the age of 10, she began training as a Kuchipudi dancer at the Kuchipudi Arts Academy, next door to her family, under the guidance of Vempati Chinna Satyam.
She also studied with the famous Kuchipudi Guru Kishore Mosalikanti and followed his instructions to complete her Rangapravesham.
Personal life
She is married to Rama Raju, eldest son of Ramco Industries Chairman PR Venkatrama Raja and son of businessman Ramalinga Raju.
Career
Sandhya Raju has been doing Kuchipudi since she was a teenager. Her first appearance was as a supporting character in Rajapalayam’s famous dance film Ksheera Saagara Madhanam, directed by her Guru.
Sandhya Raju continued to appear in small roles in Vempati Chinna Satyam’s dance films. Sandhya was chosen at the age of 15 to play the role of Lord Krishna in his last dance play, Gopika Krishna.
Sandhya went to USA with her Guru. Sandhya then began studying with Guru Shri Mosalikanti, a respected disciple of Vempati Chinna Satyam.
Sandhya played regularly with Guru Kishore Mosalikanti’s orchestra before making her solo debut at Rangapravesham at the Chennai Academy of Music. Ms. Leela Samson and Shri Chidambaram, who attended the ceremony, praised her debut solo performance.

Sandhya has given many Kuchipudi solo performances in India and elsewhere. She has had major shows at the Guimet Museum in Paris, the International Museum in Vienna, Erasing Borders in New York City and two tours of South Africa.
Sandhya Raju performed in India at the National Center for Performing Arts in Mumbai. Chennai Academy of Music, Narada Gana Sabha and Krishna Ghana Sabha are all members of Chennai Academy of Music.
She performed in Rajapalayam, her hometown, on the occasion of her great-grandfather’s regular birthday celebration. She uploaded a live performance video to YouTube.
