Early life and education

Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, known by her stage name Saweetie, was born in Santa Clara, California, USA on July 2, 1993. Her father, Trinidad Valentin, is of Filipino and Chinese descent, while her mother, Johnny Harper, is African-American.

Saweetie grew up in Sacramento, California, and attended Merrill F. West High School in Tracy. She later graduated from Monterey Trails High School in Elk Grove. At the age of 13, she began writing music.
