SB19 Dominates Korean Media Sites, X After Attending Billboard Korea’s Power 100 Event

Filipino pop group SB19 attracted attention when they appeared on the red carpet of Billboard Korea’s K Power 100 Awards and performed their global hit “Gento” during the official show.

On Tuesday, the five-member group from the Philippines — consisting of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin — were among the stars invited to attend the K Power 100 event at The Shilla Seoul hotel in the country’s capital.

SB19 was the last artist to appear on the red carpet and greet the photographers, but everyone seemed very happy to see them posing for the camera lens.

As soon as their photos were uploaded online, interest in seeing them skyrocketed, with all articles featuring them making it to the top search results of various Korean websites, including News And Naver.

The top trending keywords that appeared alongside them in real-time searches included “Philippine representative group,” “stylish,” and “cool.”

The group also won the top spot. MBC Entertainment Portala feat that is usually only achieved by the biggest K-pop artists.

On X, formerly Twitter, SB19 also created a buzz as various hashtags mentioning the group’s attendance at Billboard’s K Power 100 trended in many places, including the group’s home country, the Philippines.

As of press time, the hashtag “#SB19atGENTOsaKorea” was still the top trending topic in the Philippines with over 955,000 posts. The hashtag also dominated global trends hours before SB19 performed “GENTO” at the event.

Billboard Korea’s mega event brought together some of the biggest stars in K-pop, including EXO-CBX, The Boyz, GOT7’s BamBam, Fifty Fifty, Kang Daniel, VICTON’s Han Seungwoo, and Ailee.

Awards were given to various artists, such as Hot 100 Achievement for Fifty Fifty’s “Cupid”, Tour of Asia for Baekhyun, and Voice of Asia for SB19, The Boyz, and BINI.

According to Billboard Korea, the goal of the K Power 100 is to honor and award Korean and Asian artists for their contributions to the thriving industry.
