Scott Andrew Sinclair was born on 25 March 1989, at a private medical facility in Bath, Somerset. He spent his formative years in Somerset and is a British citizen by birth. He attended Ralph Allen School for his secondary education.

As a child and teenager, Scott Sinclair supported Manchester United. He began his pre-professional football career with Bath Arsenal. At the age of nine, Sinclair joined Bristol Rovers, where he played as a winger. In 2004, he made his first-team debut for Bristol Rovers at the age of fifteen, becoming the second youngest player to make his first-team debut after Ronnie Rix.

Career
