Early life

Scheffler was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on June 21, 1996 but moved to Dallas, Texas at a very young age. Diane and Scott Scheffler were his parents when he was born. Sara, Callie and Molly Scheffler are his three siblings.

He attended Highland Park High School and then attended the University of Texas, where he played golf and basketball. In 2015, he was selected as the Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year after helping the team to three Big 12 wins.
