Early life and education

Career
Serhou Guirassy started his professional journey by joining Stade Lavallois MFC in 2015. During his two-year tenure, he showed his talent and scored 12 goals in 56 matches. The following year in 2016, he moved to Lille OSC but was quickly loaned to AJ Auxerre.
During this loan spell, Guirassy performed brilliantly, scoring 15 goals in 39 appearances for Auxerre. He then returned to Lille OSC for the 2017-18 season.
Serhou Guirassy joined 1. FC Köln on a free transfer in 2019 after spending two seasons with Lille, where he made his Ligue 1 debut on 12 August 2017 and scored his first goal on 10 September 2017. During his time at Lille, he scored a total of 11 goals in 51 appearances.
Guirassy had a successful season with Köln, scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances. He then moved to Stade Rennais in 2020, signing a five-year contract. He quickly made an impact, scoring his first two goals for the club in the exact same match, helping them to a 4-2 win over Nîmes.
His form improved, and on 20 October 2020, he scored in a 1–1 draw with Krasnodar to register his first Champions League goal. His team’s first goal in the competition made this goal special for him and historic for his team. On 20 March, Guirassy continued his success.
Serhou Guirassy signed a four-year contract with VfB Stuttgart in 2022 and played his first Bundesliga match for the team on 3 September 2022. He then scored his first goal for the team on 10 September 2022.
Guirassy has made an impressive start to the 2023-24 season, scoring ten goals in his first five games. These include his first Bundesliga hat-trick against Mainz, equalling Robert Lewandowski’s record for the 2020-21 season.
He helped his club win against Wolfsburg by scoring a hat-trick in just 15 minutes, breaking the Bundesliga record for the most goals scored by a player in the first seven games of a season. With this outstanding performance, he broke Robert Lewandowski’s previous record of 11 goals in the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons, setting a new standard of 13 goals.
With an impressive 13 goals in just seven Bundesliga games this season, 28-year-old Serhou Guirassy has set a new record. Notably, he scored hat-tricks against Mainz and Wolfsburg and scored twice in each of the games against Bochum, Freiburg and Darmstadt.
Thanks to their excellent performance, Stuttgart are currently holding second place in the rankings, just behind the top team Bayer Leverkusen.
On 11 October 2023, it was reported that four Premier League teams, including West Ham United and Brentford, had expressed interest in signing Serhou Guirassy, who was known for his exceptional goalscoring ability while playing for Stuttgart.
