Shane Maguire and actress Nicole Curtis reportedly met in Minnesota. They have been together since 2012 and dated until at least 2014. In January 2014, she posted a status on her Facebook about a birthday gift she received from Shane.

Nicole, unhappy with the ruling, opted to change the original agreement. A few months later, Nicole filed a motion, citing Harper’s continued breastfeeding, denying Shane nighttime custody until the child was at least two years old.

Nicole has been a strong advocate for breastfeeding Harper for a long time. The custody battle centered on this issue because Nicole claimed she was unable to pump enough breast milk to keep Harper alive for overnight visits with her father.

Nicole had to provide medical evidence with the help of a lactation expert to prove that she was physically unable to pump enough milk for Harper when he was ordered by a judge.

“People ask me what it’s like to work in a male-dominated industry,” Curtis wrote in an Instagram post in 2017, and she continued, “Now ask me about the struggle of having my breasts discussed in a public courtroom.”

Nicole also shared how humiliating it was to have to sit topless in front of a stranger to prove that her body was in fact incapable of pumping enough milk. She added, “Then there was the humiliation of having to have that documentation made public and sitting in a courtroom of strangers all knowing a public discussion about my body.”

Meanwhile, Shane accused Nicole of using breastfeeding as an excuse to stay away from the child during the custody battle, but Nicole countered by claiming she was using the demand-based weaning method.

Harper and Nicole’s shared home has been a source of friction between the former couples. After Shane moved to Detroit to be near the boy, Nicole allegedly moved to California without notice. In July 2018, Shane filed for sole custody of Harper, claiming Nicole was “not a fit mother” and was trying to destroy the relationship between the child and his father.

The entrepreneur added that co-parenting with the baby’s mother was “a nightmare” as she constantly changed meeting times and locations to discuss Harper.

After nearly three years of minor conflict, the former couple finally came to an agreement in October 2018. Harper’s parents reportedly agreed to maintain joint legal and physical custody and “share equal responsibility and decision-making power” for the boy’s welfare.

To protect the relationship between Harper and her parents, they also agreed not to criticize each other in Harper’s presence. The agreement stated that neither party was allowed to alter Harper’s appearance without the other’s consent. This issue arose during the custody battle after Shane cut Harper’s hair for the first time without Nicole’s permission.

Additionally, Nicole agreed to set up a $250,000 trust fund for Harper. Shane was also allowed to use the funds to buy a home in California so he could be closer to his child. However, Shane would have repaid the money when Harper turned 19.
