Early life and education
Lori Greiner was born on December 9, 1969 and raised on the North Side of Chicago, United States.
She was born to American parents David L. Husman and Lois Arlene Husman. She has an older sister named Melinda Husman and an older brother named Michael Husman.
Lori Greiner attended Loyola University Chicago, majoring in communications, and while a student, she worked for The Chicago Tribune. She sold jewelry and had a brief career as a playwright. Her husband is Dan Greiner.
Career
A plastic earring holder was developed and patented by Lori Greiner in 1996. JC Penney purchased the product before the holiday shopping season, helping her pay off a $300,000 loan in 18 months. She has patented the product for consumer goods in a variety of categories, including cosmetic organization, jewelry storage, travel, electronics, and home appliances.
She found success with JC Penney Greiner and grew her business after seeing her products on the Home Shopping Network and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Lori Greiner then moved to QVC, where she launched one of the network’s longest-running shows, Clever & Unique Creations, in 2000.
Lori Greiner joined the American television show Shark Tank in 2012. Her investment in Scrub Daddy, a company that makes multi-textured household sponges, was recognized as one of the biggest successes in Shark Tank history in 2014.
She was also an early investor in Bantam Bagels, ReadeRest, Paint Brush Cover, Hold Your Haunches, Drop Stop, FiberFix, Simply Fit Board, Sleep Styler, and Screenmend. In 2014, T. Marzetti Company acquired Bantam Bagels in its entirety.
Lori Greiner published the guidebook Invent it, Sell it, Bank it! – Make Your Million Dollar Idea into a Reality in March 2014, based on her experiences as an entrepreneur.
