Early life and education
Shreya Ghoshal, 40, was born on March 12, 1984, in Belhampur, West Bengal, India.
Her father Bishwajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and her mother Sarmistha Ghoshal is a literature graduate.
She has a younger brother, Soumyadeep Ghoshal, who is a musician. She comes from a Bengali Hindu family and practices Vaishnavite religion.
She began learning music at the age of four from her mother, who taught her Bengali songs and classical music.
Later, she was trained by Mahesh Chandra Sharma and Mukta Bhide in Kota, Rajasthan, where her father was stationed.
She also learnt Hindustani classical music from Padmashree Late Kalyanji Bhai and Late Mukta Bhide.
