Throughout the game, Anita faces a petal monster associated with cherry blossoms, adding an element of suspense, but the game lacks combat and is played in a first-person perspective. The story revolves around themes of bullying, the impact of social media and suicide. These weighty topics form the core of the narrative, making it an emotional experience.
Silent Hill: Short Message received mixed reviews. Some people praised its visuals, atmospheric elements, and themes, especially considering it’s free. However, criticisms emerged regarding the gameplay, narrative, dialogue, and scenes involving being chased. While opinions differ, the game’s unique storytelling and its free availability make it worth watching for players interested in exploring the darker aspects of the teenage experience.

Silent Hill SMS Trophy
Silent Hill: Short Message does not include any trophies for players to earn, as it is only available on PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, this means there are no platinum, gold, silver or bronze trophies to collect, which may be disappointing for players who enjoy chasing in-game achievements. While it’s possible that trophies will be added in the future, it’s not certain yet.

Silent Hill SMS Plot
Silent Hill: Short Message takes place in the fictional town of Kettenstadt, Germany, focusing on an abandoned apartment complex called The Villa. As Anita explores, she receives a call from another friend, Emily, who reveals that Maya has died by suicide. Anita is confused by writings that appear to be from Maya and discovers Maya’s last artwork on the roof of the villa. Anita tries to imitate Maya and jumps, but wakes up in the villa. Maya tells her that they can’t leave until she finds “it”.
Anita relives her memories and realizes her jealousy of Maya’s friendship with Emily. She learns that Kottenstadt is under an alleged curse and discovers a letter from Maya asking Emily for help. Anita confesses her crime to Emily and jumps again. Back at the villa, Anita recalls her family’s troubled past, with her mother neglecting and abusing her and her brother.
She discovers that Maya planned her artwork, proving that Maya did not ignore her. Anita is chased by the monster one last time, and she stops herself from jumping, dispelling the fog and returning to reality. Later, Emily’s social media posts suggested that both Anita and she had left Kettenstadt to go to college and start over.
