Sista Afia, also known as Francisca Gawugah, was born on November 8, 1991 in Kumasi, Ghana, to Mrs. Perpetual Duncan-Williams and Mr. Gawugah Eshun. Although originally from Swedru in the Central region of Ghana, she grew up in Santasi, Fankyenebra, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana and spent her early years in Kumasi and Accra.

At the age of 15, she moved to the United Kingdom (UK) to pursue her studies and eventually obtained a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Nursing at the University of Nottingham. However, she decided to pursue her passion for music. She returned to Ghana in 2015 to launch her career, best known for hit singles such as Jeje featuring Shatta Wale and Slay Queen.

In addition to her music career, Sista Afia also ventured into entrepreneurship, opening a restaurant and shisha lounge in Accra.
