Early life

Siza Mzimela says she is the second to last child of her parents.

She had ten siblings, five boys and five girls, and was born into a family of eleven children.

Her parents raised her in South Africa, but she was raised by her brother in Swaziland.

She assumed the position of interim CEO of South African Express in 2017 after being appointed to the position. Siza Mzimela was appointed CEO of Transnet’s freight rail division in April 2020.

Siza Mzimela was Executive Vice President of Global Passenger Services at SSA for one year, from 2001 to 2002. She became Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Voyager at SSA the following year, from 2002 to 2003.

More opportunities arose during her seven years in the new position. From 2003 to 2010, she served as CEO of SSA.

She was hired as CEO of SSA in the same year 2010. In 2012, she left after two years of service.
