Skiibii was born in Lagos and grew up in Surulere community. He was born on July 5, 1992. He is a native of Lagos State, Nigeria.
Skiibii means ‘a sharp and clever person.’ According to him, his uncle gave him this name because he used to call him ‘Omo to Skiibii’ and when he asked what the name meant, he told him that it means ‘a sharp and clever person.’
Skiibii’s decisions always make things easier for him. His taste in music is unmatched and his decision to move record labels is simply the greatest.
He graduated from the University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.
Profession
Skiibii began his music career as a rapper in high school before switching to R&B. He had to overcome various obstacles while growing up, especially when it came to informing his parents of his career decision. His father, in particular, was against his desire to pursue music.
Skiibii Mayana, as he is known by his nickname, remained true to his ambition until December 24, 2014, when he began his professional music career after signing with Five Star Music and receiving a special package of a brand new 2014 Hyundai SUV.
In January 2015, he released his first official single, “Stay With Me”, which also featured Kcee. He also participated in Chimbalin’s hit song “Kilimanjaro”. On August 29, 2015, he allegedly faked his own death. Of course, his fans were not happy about it, but the important thing was that he became famous because of it.
He left Five Star Music and had to release his own album, More Grace Music. His single “London” also attracted a lot of attention, which featured Reekado Banks, but it was not enough.
