The son of Atta was born in the Igala family of Mr. and Mrs. Atta in Jos, Plateau State. He was born on October 27, 1995 and his parents named him Gideon Achille Atta.
He grew up in Jos with four siblings. He is from Kogi State. He is the fourth child in the family. He comes from a Christian family and was taught Bible teachings at a young age.
Atta’s son’s journey to musical stardom began when he was just 10 years old. He started singing in the local church choir along with his family. While singing in the choir, he also signed up for a drama group to spread the gospel through drama performances.
However, he found more satisfaction in the choir because he was passionate about music. That is why Son Of Attah actively participated in concerts and performances held by the church during his teenage years.
educate
The son of Attah obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate and West African School Certificate from a top private school in Jos.
After four years of study at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Profession
Despite his love for gospel songs, Son Of Attah decided early on that he wanted to create mainstream music. However, after listening to songs by artists like Fela Kuti, D’Banj, Sound Sultan, 2Baba, and more, a passion for African music grew in him. So, to further hone his singing and songwriting skills, he joined the music group Ball Everyday Cliq (BEC). While in the band, he wrote dozens of songs and performed at local music shows, carnivals, and festivals, showcasing his talent to a wider audience.
However, in 2013, Son Of Attah made his debut as a professional singer by recording and releasing the single “Be Painstaking”. The song was co-written by him and two other singers, Doug G and James Abraham, who received production and songwriting credits respectively.
Be Painstaking brought Son Of Attah into the music industry, putting him on the radar of music executives who were interested in his artistry and waiting to see if he could make it in the music industry. However, after releasing his debut single, Son Of Attah decided to take a break from releasing more songs, instead turning his attention to developing his songwriting skills and fine-tuning his sound. Despite this, he still went to the studio regularly to record music, but he didn’t make a big splash.
After seven years of silence, he returned to the music scene with his debut EP, Don Jazzy Said He Can’t Sign Me. The EP was released on September 10, 2020 and became an instant success, with hundreds of fans streaming and downloading his songs, bringing Son Of Attah even greater success.
Around this time, Son Of Attah met American rapper The Game, and the two connected through Instagram. The Game fell in love with his artistry after watching some of Son Of Attah’s freestyle videos on Instagram. That’s why The Game hosted a launch party for “Don Jazzy Said He Can’t Sign Me” on his Instagram page. Also, it’s no surprise that Son Of Attah’s single Fenty and Burberry made it to The Game’s playlist.
