Earlier today, we brought you exciting news about the Sonic Frontier “Birthday Bash” update, introducing new content and features. However, we dug into the patch notes for version 1.30 and found that SEGA’s announcement during the Sonic Central presentation only scratched the surface.
Surprisingly, there’s a ton of additional content waiting for you. Sega has graciously revealed a compelling new feature that allows players to customize the deceleration rate when performing jumps. Additionally, there’s an option to toggle the camera’s use of dramatic angles when using abilities, injecting an extra cinematic style into your gameplay.
Not to mention, 24 featured songs have been added to both the jukebox and song memory, providing a rich listening experience on each island and more.
Sega seems to have gone above and beyond with a lot of surprises that you might not have noticed. Sonic Frontier’s Birthday Bash update is shaping up to be an even bigger celebration than we expected.

This free content update includes the following:
- Birthday Celebration – The Starfall Islands have been decorated to celebrate Sonic’s birthday! Check out the decorations and new costume party for Sonic’s big day!
- Action Chain Challenges – New challenges have been added to the Open Zone. Aim for a high score!
- New Ability: Spin Dash – The legendary Sonic move returns! Unlock Spin Dash and discover new ways to travel across the Starfall Islands.
- New Koko – There are new species of Koko waiting to be discovered on the Starfall Islands. Look out for their fun costumes!
- New Game+ – Relive the story of Sonic Frontiers, using all the stats and skills you’ve played before.
This update also includes other changes to improve your experience while exploring the Starfall Islands.
- Added the ability to display the completion percentage of each island – available on the transition screen between islands, the island selection screen and the island clearing screen.
- New “Border Elite” outfits added.
- Added the ability to change deceleration while jumping.
- Added a “New” icon, which will appear when additional content is newly added.
- Added the ability to turn on/off the “Background Music Change” feature in cyberspace.
- Easy mode has reduced the difficulty of the towers on Rhea Island.
- When using the following time-saving actions in cyberspace, colored markers will now appear in the results:
- Homeward Sprint: White
- Spin Dash: Red
- Deceleration change when jumping: yellow
- Cyberspace Power-Up: Blue
- Added the function of resetting clearance time and ranking in arcade mode, cyberspace, battle craze and other modes.
- Added ON/OFF option to set whether the camera will use dramatic angles when using skills.
- Added an option to set the deceleration to a full stop.
- Added ON/OFF option to set whether to maintain power assist during jump.
- Added 24 songs to the jukebox. Added sound memories on each island.
- Other bug fixes.
