early life
Sonja Herholdt was born on December 1, 1952, in Niger, a mining community in Gauteng, South Africa.
Sonja Herholdt is a 68-year-old musician.
Sonja Herholdt completed her primary education at the Tini-Vorster Basic School. She then continued her education at the John Vorster Gymnasium, where she was a girl leader in both the primary and secondary schools.
Her dedication as a student earned her honors for her academic and theatrical achievements.
After graduating from secondary school, Sonja Herholdt entered the College of Education in Johannesburg (Goudstad).
After three years of study, he received a Distinction Teaching Diploma from the institution.

Sonja Herholdt was awarded the SARIE Prize eight times in the 1970s and 1980s and was the best-selling female artist of her time.
Her songs were so popular that the Netherlands had to invite her to perform on national television.
One of her hits, “Oberammergau”, was recorded in Dutch and the singer performed it in Belgium. The song was a huge success in Belgium, reaching number five in the country’s charts.

Personal life
FC Hamman is the husband of Sonja Herholdt. They met when Sonja was a student and Hamman was teaching at a nearby art school.
They met and began dating. Sonja Herholdt and FC Hamman married in 1976. However, the couple split in June 1996 after he was caught cheating on his wife.
The couple had four (4) children during their approximately twenty years of marriage. They welcomed their first child, Claudia Hamman, in 1982, five years after their marriage.
Three years later, in 1985, Simeon Hamman was born, and Jesse Hamman was born in 1987. Timothy Hamman, their last child, was born in 1991.
In 1993, two years after their last child was born, tragedy struck when Timothy Harman became ill and lost his hearing.
So Sonja Herholdt founded a special education school for South African children with hearing and speech impairments. She taught there for five years.
