Steamworld build game

SteamWorld Build is a game that combines different types of fun. First, players create and run a town on a distant planet. They built roads, houses, and other important items for the people who lived there. Making sure everyone in town is happy is key! As players progress, they unlock new buildings and technologies and make their workers better at their jobs. The growth of towns depends on the number of people living there.

But that’s not all! Once players collect enough materials to repair their mining site, the game unlocks a new section. Now, players not only have to operate a working mine, but also send miners into an ancient and eerie mine. They are searching for ancient technology that might help them escape Earth. While digging for resources, they also have to fight terrifying monsters. As the town gets bigger, more engineers will come in, allowing players to hire more miners, making mining better.

Steamworld Build Development

A 40-person team at The Station, owned by Thunderful Development, is working on the SteamWorld Build. The big boss in charge is Brjánn Sigurgeirsson. What makes this game stand out is that it’s the first SteamWorld game not made by an original Swedish team. Prior to this, The Station produced art and related content for the LittleBigPlanet games. They started working on this game back in 2020.

The developers say the game is a bit like the Anno series and Dungeon Keeper series, but they made sure the city-building and dungeon-exploring parts are blended together. The story takes place concurrently with SteamWorld Dig 2 and brings back familiar faces from earlier SteamWorld games.

Thunderful Development spilled the beans in May 2022, saying they were working on four different SteamWorld games, one of which was secretly named “Coffee.” Then, in January 2023, they officially announced SteamWorld Build at the SteamWorld Telegraph’s big event, and even released a free demo the same day. Finally, the game was released on December 1, 2023 on many different gaming systems.
