Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo (born 10 October 1972) is a Nigerian citizen known professionally as Sunday Igboho.

He was born in a small town called Oke-Ogun, located in Oyo State, Nigeria.

He is a Nigerian business tycoon, activist and philanthropist. He became a figure of social interest as a leading agitator for the Yoruba Nation.

On Sunday, Igboho took to the streets in most of Nigeria’s southwestern states to protest against the demand for separation of the Yoruba region of Nigeria.

On July 20, 2021, the same year he sparked street agitation in the states, he was said to have been arrested in Cotonou after being declared wanted by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Before his arrest, Sunday Igboho was declared wanted by the DSS the same month he was arrested for resisting arrest by the DSS following a deadly gunfight that resulted in the death of one DSS official and the injury of one.

Early life

Sunday Igboho was born in Igboho, Old Oyo empire, in Oke Ogun in Oyo State.

His father moved to Modakeke in Osun state, where he grew up.

He started out as a motorbike mechanic and later ventured into the auto business where he sold cars and was able to establish Adeson Business Concept.

Sunday Igboho gained international attention after his role in the Modakeke/Ife war from 1997 to 1998, where he was a Modakeke defendant.

Career

Chief Sunday Igboho’s career started as a mechanic and motorbike repairman. Over the years, God raised him to become one of the most successful businessmen around. He currently owns a company, Adeson International Business Concept Ltd., and has also established businesses in many parts of the world.

Sunday Igboho is also a human rights activist and politician. Previously, he announced his intention to run for governor of Oyo state but insisted on not revealing his party affiliation until the deadline.

On January 26, 2021, some unknown thugs attacked the Soka residence of Sunday Igboho for Ibadan and burned his house.

February 26, 2021 ‘kasala boom’ along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday as the police and the Department of State Services were said to be trying to arrest the Yoruba activist.

However, his recent move was to send the Fulani community away from the southwest region of the country as they were allegedly involved in killings, kidnappings and communal riots due to encroaching cattle entering farms and destroying their agricultural products.

For this act, Sunday Igboho was described as the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba land, because he was said to be fighting for the rights of the Yorubas.

Sunday Igboho was inspired to join politics early in his time in Modakeke, however, in 2002, he fully entered politics when he moved to Ibadan, Oyo State when he met Lam Adesina, former Governor of Oyo State by a brave step in trying to protect the rights of seniors and others at the gas station.
