Taylor Momsen was bitten by a bat during a concert in Spain

Pretty Reckless frontman Taylor Momsen was bitten by a bat while performing Friday in Seville, Spain.

During the song “Witches Burn”, a bat landed on Momsen’s upper thigh, clinging to her dress. After Momsen shouted a “Gracias!” In front of the crowd, attendees began pointing and shouting, trying to direct her attention to the bat.

“You guys are pointing at something and I don’t know what you’re saying,” she joked into the microphone. She then turned around, walked toward the back of the stage, noticed the bat on her leg, and screamed, “Oh my god–!”

She cautiously turned back to the microphone and said to the crowd, “There’s a bat flying over my leg right now. Can someone help me?” She let out an “eek!” the sound of her guitarist telling her, “don’t move.”

“I must be a real witch,” Momsen joked.

After some assistance from the stage crew, the cane was removed from Momsen’s dress.

“Gracias! It’s okay, and the bat is okay too,” she said, “He’ll be my new friend.”

The singer later went to the hospital because the bat bit her. She has been vaccinated against rabies and will need to continue getting shots over the next two weeks to keep the disease at bay.

Momsen shared the experience online, posting a video to his X account:

“ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT…in Sevilla on Wednesday during the show “Witches Burn”, a BAT clung to my leg…while I was performing and didn’t know anything until the crowd kept screaming scream and point…yeah, it bit me. ..so get a rabies shot in two weeks. Online fans took the moment partly in jest, calling it a “real” “rock ‘n’ roll” moment but sending Momsen their best wishes.

“What a great Rock & Roll moment: the song, the stick, your reaction, memorable tour for sure! Hope you’re okay!” wrote one user.

“That’s the bat signal. It must mean you’re going to lead this generation of rock & roll. I hope you’re better now,” another replied.

One fan joked about Ozzy Osbourne’s infamous bat bite: “The bat was like ‘my great-grandfather had his head bitten off by someone playing music like that! In the end, I’ll have my revenge!'”

Pretty Reckless is supporting AC/DC on the European leg of the POWER UP Tour, which runs until mid-August.
