Taylor Swift disappoints DC Swifties with the possibility of skipping the Kansas City Chiefs’ White House Celebration

While boyfriend Travis Kelce continues to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ February Super Bowl victory, Taylor Swift won’t be present when the White House honors the winning team.

President Joseph Biden is set to honor the Chiefs, as he did last year when the team won Super Bowl LVII. Swift is in the middle of the European leg of her record-breaking The Eras Tour. but is on a break between concerts in Madrid, Spain, and Lyon, France, which begin on June 2.

During the press conference, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if the pop star would attend the Chiefs’ celebration.

“That’s a good question. I think the Swifties behind these double doors are hoping Taylor Swift shows up. I don’t have anything for you,” she replied.

“I don’t know. I can’t speak to her schedule, but I know there are a lot of people interested in this building and on campus.”

Jean-Pierre didn’t name any specific Capitol Swifties, but among countless staff, 435 members of Congress and a powerful executive branch, it’s easy to imagine that some lawmakers have Maybe a Swift fan.

Swift is no stranger to Congress. After Ticketmaster failed to sell Eras Tour tickets, the Senate held a hearing, grilling the ticketing giant. Many MPs have used jokes and puns in Swift’s songs to address Ticketmaster’s unfair practices

“May I respectfully suggest that Ticketmaster look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m the problem. It’s me,'” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT.).

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT.) quipped: “A lot of people seem to think that’s some kind of solution; I thought it was ‘a nightmare dressed like a dream'”.

Currently, the Department of Justice is suing Ticketmaster and parent company Live Nation for violating antitrust laws. The two companies merged in 2010 and have held a monopoly in the ticketing industry since then.

With her busy schedule, Swift appearing in DC is unlikely. However, this star will definitely celebrate her boyfriend’s success from afar.
