Taylor Swift makes history at the VMAs as she becomes the artist with the most awards ever with 29 wins

Taylor Swift has truly cemented her status as a record-breaking artist.

Her latest achievement sees her become the most awarded artist in Video Music Awards history, surpassing Beyonce’s previous record of 27 wins.

Swift’s growing collection of VMA trophies is a testament to her legacy in the music industry.

However, she encountered many obstacles in the early stages of her career before achieving the success she has today.

Swift was disappointed when she missed out on her first VMA nomination in 2008 for “Teardrops on My Guitar,” at a time when she was still a country artist.

But her first win at the VMAs came in 2009 for “You Belong with Me,” winning Best Female Video, although the moment was overshadowed by Kanye West’s controversial interruption in support of Beyonce.

Throughout her career, Swift has had many opportunities to speak without interruption as she prepares to break records.

It wasn’t until last year that the “Down Bad” hitmaker reached the pinnacle of her career, winning nine VMAs.

In 2024, Swift has 29 MTV VMAs. She recently won Song of the Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Artist of the Year, Best Director, and Best Editing.

And in true “Taylor Swift style,” the “Fortnight” singer gave an emotional speech at one of her wins in remembrance of the solemn events of September 11.

Swift acknowledged the profound impact of the tragic events of September 11, remembering those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks and offering her deepest condolences to their families.

“Waking up this morning in New York on September 11, I thought about what happened 23 years ago—all those who lost loved ones and all those we have lost.”

“And that’s the most important thing today, and everything that happens tonight depends on that.”
