Taylor Swift was named the 3rd Greatest Pop Star of 2024 on Instagram
Taylor Swift’s ranking on Billboard’s latest “Greatest Pop Stars of 2024” list has been met with disappointed reactions from Swifties online.
On December 19, Billboard continued its ongoing “Greatest Pop Stars of 2024” list by ranking Swift at number 3. According to the review, Billboard highlighted Swift’s impact on the industry music with her historic “Eras” tour.
The groundbreaking world tour runs from March 17, 2023 to December 8, 2024, generating $2 billion in gross revenue and more than $10 million in attendance across 149 shows acting. In addition to her tour dominance, Swift also dominated the charts with her 11th studio album “The Tortured Poets Department.”
It didn’t stop there, as the “Fortnight” singer pulled off another historic feat at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, where she won a total of 10 trophies. This achievement also made her the artist with the most awards in Billboard history.
This ranking is quite high compared to the other positions since Swift entered the Top 3. However, since Swift ranked third despite making the most of her 2024, Swifties chose Billboard for this position.
Fans couldn’t understand Billboard’s criteria for this chart, while others pointed out the “lack of respect” towards the female singer. Meanwhile, others couldn’t understand how Swift, who seemed to have checked all the boxes for first or second place, still came in third.
I still don’t understand. 2023 – 2024 is her year. Talent? She has it. She’s a queer musician, not just any artist. The sale? My God, she’s the only musician to sell 2 million copies in the first week. Stream? Let’s not talk about it because we all know it. Number 1 on any list? God. https://t.co/qqyynH0sHV

She’s the #1 singles artist, #1 album artist and #1 touring artist of the year but is #3 on the overall list?
There’s something fishy behind Billboard’s lack of respect for Taylor this year… https://t.co/JVQSn9pkW5
