In 2021, Swift achieved the longest-running No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “All Too Well (10-Minute Version)”, beating Don McLean, who previously held the record with the eight-minute song “American Pie (Parts I & II)”.

When he passed the baton to Swift, McLean felt relieved and admired when she surprised him with a bouquet of flowers and a note reading “Standing on the shoulders of giants.”
As the “Fortnight” singer asserts his position, the 78-year-old singer, songwriter and guitarist has shifted his focus to supporting the younger star, expressing his wish that she find joy amid her meteoric rise.
McLean recently spoke to the Evening Standard about Swift, saying, “She’s a shining example of what talent and hard work can really do.”
The musician continued, “A lot of people think that the entertainment industry is just something like, ‘Oh, you’re so great, you should be a star,’ and by the way, Taylor Swift was a star for 15 years before she became this huge, galactic star.”
“She’s always worked hard and she does everything better than everyone else, whether it’s videos, performances, songwriting, recording or whatever, she does it all, much better than everyone else and that’s really exciting because all those other activities suddenly become obsolete,” McLean added.

He later gave advice to the 14-time Grammy winner, saying, “The only thing is she has to be happy. The show and the fame — as Elvis said ‘the fame and the money’ — and I’m very lucky to have that. I know how to do that.”
“I have a lot of hobbies and they feed me. I don’t go around thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, why don’t I have this?’ or ‘Why don’t I have that?’” he explains. “That’s the quickest way to be unhappy that I can think of.”
“So you have to be happy with what you’re doing and a lot of people say if a song or an album isn’t commercially successful then that’s a negative thing and I don’t even think about that. I don’t really think about whether it’s going to get public attention or not, that doesn’t matter to me,” McLean added.
Swift has amassed a considerable fortune since making her mark in the music industry. Her net worth is estimated at $1.3 billion, and she has an impressive discography of 11 albums and 61 singles, along with a collection of 14 Grammy Awards.

“TTPD” continues to soar in sales, attracting millions of loyal fans who have been eager to claim the title. The album soared to the top of Billboard’s buy-only chart this week, reflecting a significant increase in sales.
According to recent data from Luminate, via Billboard, “The Tortured Poets Department” saw a significant sales increase last week, selling 84,000 copies.
In the previous period, the album sold less than 12,000 copies, which means it saw a significant increase of over 600% in the following week.
With 84,000 copies sold, “The Tortured Poets Department” reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Top Album Sales chart. The album has now spent seven weeks at No. 1 — nearly half of the 16 weeks it’s been on the chart. The sales surge pushed Swift’s project to No. 1 from its previous No. 6 spot.
