Tekken 8
“Tekken 8” is a fighting game jointly launched by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika. It will be launched on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on January 26, 2024. As the eighth canon version and tenth game in the Tekken series, this game unveils its mystery. The story mode “Dark Awakening” is set six months after its predecessor.

The story revolves around the ultimate conflict between father Mishima Kazuya and son Kazama Jin in an effort to end the turmoil in the family lineage. Tekken 8 features 32 characters, each with their own story that contributes to the main plot, introducing new mechanics such as the “Heat” system and “Tornado” popular gameplay.
The game was developed using Unreal Engine 5, went through stability testing, and will be available as a demo in December 2023. Tekken 8 was released to critical acclaim, praising its series progression and aggressive gameplay, with some hailing it as the best entry since Tekken 3.
Tekken 8 gameplay
Tekken 8 maintains the familiar fighting game style of its predecessor, but also features significant updates. The Rage system returns with a change, turning Rage Drive into Heat Crush, a powerful super move in the Heat system. Technical improvements include replacing the “screw” mechanism with a “tornado” extender that affects the opponent’s state when he falls.
Certain stages have hazards, such as breakable walls, adding an element of strategy. Tekken 8 aims to provide a cinematic combat experience with an emphasis on staged destruction and character reactions. The game features new character models and voice acting, as well as a revamped online mode, “Arcade Quest,” with customizable avatars and a “Fight Money” currency. Tekken 8 is powered by Unreal Engine 5, marking a milestone as the first major fighting game to use the engine.
