The 10 Star Wars Characters With The Most Screen Time

These 10 Star Wars characters have the most screen time throughout the entire Star Wars timeline—and they might surprise you. While many of the characters from Star Wars’ best movies may have been among the most beloved for decades, that doesn’t necessarily translate to the amount of screen time they’ve had. In fact, some of Star Wars’ best characters fall shockingly low on the list of characters with the most screen time.

In part, this is because of Star Wars’ many TV shows, especially the animated shows. With shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars: The Bad Bad, some characters that have never even appeared in Star Wars movies have ample screen time simply because of the sheer number of episodes they’ve appeared in. According to The Screen Time Holocron, here are the 10 characters with the most screen time throughout all of Star Wars’ movies and TV shows.

Omega

First Appeared In: Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Close

Omega was a brand-new addition in The Bad Batch, and a brilliant one at that. When she was introduced in The Bad Batch, Omega was a true anomaly. She was revealed to be an ‘unaltered’ female clone of Jango Fett, meaning that she had no rapid aging or other modifications that the clones of the Clone Army had. Her only counterpart at the time in that sense was Boba Fett, who was also unaltered. The major difference, of course, is that Omega is female.

Later in the show, it was revealed that there was another female clone of Jango Fett, named Emerie Karr.

Despite only appearing in The Bad Batch so far, Omega has just under five and a half hours of screen time in Star Wars. This makes some degree of sense, as Omega was a major character in the show that ran for three seasons. What is shocking is that she beats out all the other characters in that show in terms of screen time, including the members of The Bad Batch themselves. This number may also go up for Omega, as The Bad Batch season 3 ending revealed that Omega joined the Rebellion, suggesting she could appear in another project.

9

Kanan Jarrus

First Appeared In: Star Wars Rebels

Close

Another main character from Star Wars’ animated shows, Jedi Kanan Jarrus has the ninth-highest screen time of all Star Wars characters. Kanan was introduced in Rebels as one of the survivors of Order 66, who had changed his name from Caleb Dume to Kanan Jarrus during the Imperial Era for his own protection. He became a beloved character on that show, as he took on a fatherly role with Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger and proved that Jedi could have romantic attachments without falling to the dark side.

Kanan’s Star Wars screen time comes in right around five and a half hours as well, only beating out Omega by about five minutes. What is most surprising about Kanan’s screen time ranking is that he beats out some of the other Rebels characters who returned to the Star Wars screen in Ahsoka, whereas Kanan did not. Of course, as the Jedi of the show, Kanan played a massive role in Rebels, so it makes some sense that he would still have more screen time.

Kaz Xiono

First Appeared In: Star Wars Resistance

Close

Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono is a major character in Star Wars’ canon animated series Star Wars Resistance. The show, set just before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, focuses on the efforts of the Resistance to fight back against the rising power of the First Order. Because of that storyline and the show’s place in the Star Wars timeline, Resistance’s cast of characters also features main characters from the movies, including Poe Dameron, voiced by Oscar Isaac himself, and Leia Organa, voiced by Rachel Butera.

In Resistance, Kaz is a pilot within the Resistance and the son of Senator Hamato Xiono. Because Resistance is far from the most prominent Star Wars project, Kaz’s place on this list is surprising. Yet again, though, Star Wars’ animated shows have a heavy hand in these numbers, so much so that lesser-known characters are beating out the franchise’s stars, such as Luke Skywalker. Kaz’s estimated screen time comes in just over six hours.

Star Wars’ animated shows have a heavy hand in these numbers.

7

Kai Brightstar

First Appeared In: Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures

Close

Another surprise, Kai Brightstar, one of the main characters in Star Wars’ canon show Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, is among the characters with the most screen time. Young Jedi Adventures is targeted to a much younger audience than Star Wars typically is. While Star Wars is known to be ‘for children,’ Young Jedi Adventures is really geared toward a pre-school and younger grade school audience.

This makes Kai’s addition on this list quite a shock, especially in light of the Star Wars characters who don’t make the top ten in terms of screen time. Nevertheless, Kai’s total screen time in Star Wars comes in at about six hours and seventeen minutes, reflecting a combination of Young Jedi Adventures’ shorts and full-fledged seasons. At present, a potential season 3 of Young Jedi Adventures is not among the confirmed upcoming Star Wars TV shows.

Sabine Wren

First Appeared In: Star Wars Rebels

Close

Sabine Wren is yet another Rebels character with some of the highest screen time in Star Wars, but, unlike Kanan, Sabine has now also starred in Ahsoka. In Rebels, Sabine was introduced as a Mandalorian with an artistic flair and a mysterious, clearly traumatic past involving working with the Empire and ultimately being cast off by her family. She was a major character in the show, and she had a rather interesting dynamic with another main character, Ezra Bridger (at times having romantic undertones and at times seeming more like siblings).

Ahsoka surprised audiences by revealing that Ahsoka Tano was training Sabine in the ways of the Force, although Sabine had shown no Force sensitivity in Rebels. Nevertheless, this arc played a major role in Ahsoka season 1, and, as the Ahsoka finale ended with Sabine and Ahsoka trapped on Peridea together, that is likely to continue. At present, Sabine’s total screen time is just over six and a half hours, but Ahsoka season 2 will undoubtedly see that number increase.

Din Djarin

First Appeared In: The Mandalorian

Close

Din Djarin is a much less surprising inclusion on this list, as he is the star of The Mandalorian, which has now run for three seasons. The Mandalorian is easily among Star Wars’ best TV shows, and Star Wars is clearly aware of that, given the franchise’s next movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, will be the first Star Wars show to make the jump to the big screen. The Mandalorian & Grogu will also mean a major update to Din Djarin’s total screen time, which currently comes in at just under seven and a half hours.

It’s safe to assume that The Mandalorian & Grogu will add about two hours to Din Djarin’s total screen time, which will likely move him up even further in the top five characters in terms of screen time. It will also be interesting to see where Din’s story goes next and how that impacts his overall screen time. It still isn’t clear if The Mandalorian & Grogu is replacing The Mandalorian season 4 or if that will be released further down the line.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

First Appeared In: A New Hope

Close

It’s unsurprising that Obi-Wan Kenobi ranks so highly on the list of Star Wars characters with the most screen time. Obi-Wan debuted in A New Hope, and while he died in that movie, he continued to play a role in the original trilogy as a Force ghost. He then became a major character in the prequel trilogy, and he has since appeared in multiple Star Wars shows, including as a major character in The Clone Wars and the leading character in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan even had a cameo in Rebels when Darth Maul fought him on Tatooine.

It’s unsurprising that Obi-Wan Kenobi ranks so highly on the list of Star Wars characters with the most screen time.

There have also been many hints that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is coming, although that initially seemed to clearly just be a limited series. This would obviously mean even more screen time for Obi-Wan. Currently, his screen time is sitting right at nine hours.

3

Ezra Bridger

First Appeared In: Star Wars Rebels

Close

Ezra Bridger is the Rebels character with the most screen time in Star Wars, although that isn’t all that surprising. Rebels was really an ensemble cast that comprised the entire Ghost crew, but if there was one character to be considered the main character, it would be Ezra. Like Sabine, Ezra also appeared in Ahsoka, although not until the very end. In fact, in Ahsoka, Ezra only had twenty minutes of screen time, meaning his total of nine hours and sixteen minutes in Star Wars almost entirely comprises his time in Rebels.

It’s also likely that Ezra’s time in Ahsoka season 2 will be much more significant than his time in season 1 was. While Ahsoka and Sabine are now trapped on Peridea, Ezra managed to escape the planet aboard Grand Admiral Thrawn’s ship. As Thrawn now poses a major threat to the galaxy and Ezra is one of the few surviving Jedi at the time, he is sure to become much more important to the plot of the show.

2

Ahsoka Tano

First Appeared In: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Close

Ahsoka Tano has easily become one of the biggest characters in Star Wars, which makes her nearly eleven hours of screen time in the franchise make perfect sense. Ahsoka is one of only two Star Wars characters who have surpassed ten hours of total screen time in the franchise’s nearly 50 years. Yet, looking at her numerous Star Wars appearances, it’s easy to see why.

Ahsoka is one of only two Star Wars characters who have surpassed ten hours of total screen time in the franchise’s nearly 50 years.

Ahsoka was introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and then became a major character in the Clone Wars show, which had a seven-season run. Since then, Ahsoka has appeared in Rebels, The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, and Ahsoka, to name just a few. With Ahsoka season 2 coming in the next few years and the possibility that she will play a role in other future projects, Ahsoka Tano’s prominence in Star Wars is likely to only grow.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

First Appeared In: A New Hope

Close

Unsurprisingly, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is the Star Wars character with the most screen time overall. In addition to being the Chosen One, Anakin is simply one of the most important characters in the entire franchise. Luke may have been the leading character in A New Hope, but Anakin’s story has since come to dominate Star Wars. Anakin/Vader’s appearances in numerous Star Wars movies and shows have given him a staggering total of eleven and a half hours of screen time.

Anakin/Vader’s appearances in numerous Star Wars movies and shows have given him a staggering total of eleven and a half hours of screen time.

Notably, these calculations are not without their flaws. For example, the total screen time for Luke Skywalker doesn’t take into account his appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker for whatever reason. Nevertheless, these rough estimates of the Star Wars characters with the most screen time reveal some shocking insights into the franchise’s major characters.
