TI is taking a step back from the spotlight.
Rapper “Whatever You Like” appeared on the afternoon show 96.1 The Beat Rari at 2 o’clock with hosts Ferrari Simmons and BT. During the interview, he shared that he would not perform again after appearing at the station’s annual Jingle Ball holiday concert in Atlanta on December 19.
“I appreciate you all for offering me my last job contract because I don’t need the money anymore and I’m not going to perform. I don’t want to do it anymore. … I don’t want people pay me to dance and sweat for entertainment too,” TI told the host.
Ferrari went on to ask TI if he was going to “do” something for another upcoming show.
“Of course, I’ll answer the phone to tell them I won’t be performing,” he replied, asserting that his performing days are indeed coming to an end.
Despite his assertions, TI has said that he may be open to returning to the stage in the future, but it would be on his terms.
TI’s statement that he no longer needs the money comes after he and wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris recently won a $71 million lawsuit against toy manufacturer MGA. The pair allege that the toymaker stole the design of the “OMG” toy doll line from their real-life teen pop group OMG Girlz, according to Billboard.
The pop group has been disbanded for several years but was originally founded by Tiny and featured her daughter Zonnique “Star” Pullins.
This is not the first time TI has confirmed that he may be retiring from his music career. Last October he appeared on We Are In Miami Podcast and shared that he is planning to release one final album. It will be a double album and is currently titled Kill the king And Kiss the king.
