Early life and education
Tiwa Savage was born in Isaale-Eko, Lagos State, Nigeria. She spent her childhood in Lagos and moved to London when she was 11 years old.
She was born on February 5, 1980.
Tiwa Savage graduated from the prestigious University of Kent with a degree in Accounting. She also studied music professionally at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2007.
Profession
Tiwa Savage began her professional music career at the age of 16, lending her voice to songs by Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli and Ms. Dynamite, among others.
To fuel her passion, she entered the UK version of The X Factor, where she made it to the top 24 but was the 12th contestant to be eliminated from the TV talent show.
In 2009, she signed her first publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, under which she wrote songs for artists such as Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica and Mýa.
She returned to Nigeria to continue her music career and signed a record deal with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, and her return was welcomed with open arms.
