Early life
Gennaro Anthony Sirico was born in New York City on July 29, 1942, and grew up in the East Flatbush and Bensonhurst neighborhoods of Brooklyn. For most of his life, Tony lived with his mother, Marie Sirico.
Robert Sirico and Carmine Sirico are his two brothers. Robert is a Catholic priest and co-founder of the Acton Institute for Free Enterprise. Sirico has been arrested 28 times and has been convicted numerous times for crimes such as assault and robbery.
He was arrested for the first time at age 7 for stealing a nickel from a newsstand. Tony was sentenced to 13 months in prison in 1967 after being convicted of robbing an after-hours bar in Brooklyn.
He was arrested in 1970 and a .32 caliber pistol was found on him. He was charged with extortion, coercion and illegal possession of a weapon in 1971. He was imprisoned for four years.
That included 20 months in Sing Sing. During his incarceration, Tony Sirico was visited by a group of former inmates, which Sirico said gave him the idea to start an acting career.
