Early life
Barker was born in California on November 14, 1975. His mother gave him his first drum set when he was four years old and he began learning to play drums at the age of five with Michael Mai, who taught him many different drum styles.
He also studied trumpet and piano. He joined a choir for a short time but had other ambitions besides pursuing a musical career.

Career
After finishing school, Barker began playing in a small Fontana-based band called Snot and Feeble while working as a garbage collector. He met Chad Larson and together they formed the Aquabats, which helped them get a record deal.
They released The Fury of the Aquabats! and toured nationally with Blink-182. He was asked by former Blink-182 drummer Scott Raynor to replace him after he left.
Barker memorized a 20-song setlist in less than 45 minutes before their first show with the new drummer, and he executed the show perfectly. Post joined Blink-182 on the band’s first album with him, ‘Enema of the State.’
