Early life and education
Trevor Noah was born on 20 February 1984 in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. His father, Robert Noah, is of Swiss-German descent, while his mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, is of Xhosa descent.
Under apartheid laws, Trevor Noah’s mother was classified as black, and his father was classified as white. At the time of his birth, his parents’ interracial relationship was illegal, something he made clear in his autobiography.
Interracial sex and marriage were not legalised until a year after his birth, when the Immorality Act was amended in 1985.

Patricia Noah and her mother, Nomalizo Frances Noah, raised Trevor Noah in the black township of Soweto. Trevor Noah attended Maryvale College, a private Roman Catholic primary and secondary school in Johannesburg.
Personal life
South African comedian Trevor Noah has been in an on-and-off relationship with actress Minka Kelly since 2020. Minka Kelly is also known as the daughter of Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay and stripper Maureen Kelly and the niece of actor Richard Ney.
Trevor Noah and actress Minka Kelly officially split in May 2021. Trevor’s first significant relationship was with South African celebrity physical therapist Dani Gabriel. Dani Gabriel and the comedian traveled the world together while he performed stand-up comedy and worked part-time as a foreign correspondent for the Daily Show when they started dating in 2014.
So far, things are going well, Trevor Noah has dated Minka Kelly (2020-2021), Jordyn Taylor (2015) and Dani Gabriel. He is not married, has no wife and no children.
Career
In 2002, Trevor Noah started his career in Johannesburg, where he was born. He held several presenting positions at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
He finished second in the fourth series of Strictly Come Dancing in South Africa in 2008. The late-night discussion show Tonight with Trevor Noah, which aired on M-Net and DStv from 2010 to 2011, was also created and hosted by him.
In 2002, Trevor Noah had a small role in an episode of the South African television series Isidingo. He later hosted the radio show Noah’s Ark on Gauteng’s leading youth radio station, YFM.

In December 2014, Trevor Noah became a regular contributor to The Daily Show. In March 2015, Comedy Central announced that Trevor Noah would succeed Jon Stewart as host of The Daily Show; his tenure began on September 28, 2015.
His autobiography Born a Crime was released in November 2016 and received positive reviews from prominent American book critics. In the book, his mother plays a major role outside of the author, while his European father is only mentioned sporadically.
The New York Times, Newsday, Esquire, NPR, and Booklist have all named it one of the best novels of the year, and it has reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list. It was revealed that Lupita Nyong’o will play his mother in the film version of the book.
It has been revealed that Trevor Noah will premiere his ninth all-new comedy special, Afraid of the Dark, on Netflix on February 21. The show was filmed on November 5, 2016, in front of a packed audience at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Trevor Noah’s hour-long stand-up comedy show, Trevor Noah: Lost in Translation, debuted on Comedy Central last year. You Laugh But It’s True, an award-winning documentary about Trevor Noah’s incredible career in post-apartheid South Africa, is produced by David Paul Meyer.
In 2013, Trevor Noah: African American, his comedy special on Showtime, debuted. At the 2014 and 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards, he was nominated for Personality of the Year and won the award in 2015.
