Early life
Tyler Perry was born Emmitt Perry Jr. on September 13, 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He is the son of Willie Maxine Perry (mother) and Emmitt Perry Sr. (father). The famous entertainer has three siblings: Emmbre Perry, Melva Porter, and Yulanda Wilkins.
He had a difficult life as one of four children, enduring years of abuse from his carpenter father. He had a terrible childhood, as he was abused for many years.

Tyler Perry also had problems outside of his home, revealing that four individuals sexually assaulted him. According to him, he attempted suicide at one point to escape his stressful situation. To distance himself from his father, he changed his name to Tyler at the age of 16.
Tyler Perry dropped out of high school but earned his GED. He worked a series of unfulfilling jobs while trying to find his career path before finding his true calling.
Career
Tyler Perry, who was struggling financially, performed the show in various venues and worked odd jobs. He even lived in his car, but he did not give up and continued to rewrite and perform the musical. His production, ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed,’ was eventually well received by critics and was produced in various venues from 1998 to 2000.
In 2000, he wrote his next play, ‘I Can Do Bad All by Myself’, which became an instant hit. The main character in the play ‘Madea’, modeled after his mother and played by himself, stole the show.
In 2001, Tyler Perry released ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman’, followed by ‘Madea’s Family Reunion’, both of which received positive reviews. He began touring to promote all of his plays after writing ‘Madea’s Class Reunion’ in 2003.
Diary of a Mad Black Woman is another of his films, released in 2005. He played a major role on the silver screen. The film was a bomb, especially because it involved African Americans.
He played Madea in the 2006 film “Madea’s Family Reunion”.
After the show became popular, he set up his own studio in Atlanta. On June 21, 2006, he debuted his television series, ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,’ on TBS.
In 2006, he released his best-selling book, “Don’t Make Black Women Take Off Their Earrings: Madea’s Unbridled Commentary on Love and Life.”
In 2007, he directed the romantic comedy ‘Daddy’s Little Girls.’
