early life
Ufuoma Stacey Ejenobor-McDermott (born April 23, 1981) was born in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, Nigeria, to parents who are of Urhobo descent from Delta State, Nigeria.
Yet she has moved many times — from Benin City to Jos, where she spent much of her formative years, and later to Lagos. She is 43.
Ufuoma McDermott has lived and still lives here for most of her life. When she was seven, her father gave her a nickname: ISIO (which means “star” in the Urhobo language).
She was named after the actress who starred in the TELEFEST show “Pot of Life” produced by National Television of Benin (NTA).

She then attended the Federal Government College, Odogbolu, Ogun State for her secondary education.
