Pop star Katy Perry recently attracted attention when she released a clip of the “California Girls” singer chatting with her ex-boyfriend John Mayer. The two unexpectedly sat close to each other during a stop on Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour in Los Angeles. They appeared to have a friendly chat during the Kia Forum show, which also featured famous faces like Cara Delevingne, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Saturday night live featured actor Marcello Hernandez, who surprised the crowd by taking the stage in character from his viral “Espresso” sketch.
However, a clip from a new perspective shows the exact moment Perry realized Mayer was there, bowing his head angrily before turning around to say hello. Many people found this clip deeply relatable, finding themselves completely at a loss when meeting their ex after years of no contact.

While Perry now shares 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with fiance Orlando Bloom, back in the day, many believed she and Mayer were over. The two dated off and on from 2012 to 2015, during which time they collaborated on the song “Who You Love”.
Luckily, there doesn’t appear to be any bad blood between the pair, who have devoted music to each other and spoken fondly of each other in the years since their split. Although many speculated the relationship would be a rebound move after Perry publicly announced her divorce from Russell Brand, Perry denied it was ever about revenge. “No, not at all. No, I was madly in love with him,” she shared. “I’m still madly in love with him.”
Meanwhile, Mayer admitted to still listening to their collaborative music. “Sometimes I listen to that song and say, ‘I like that song,'” he said above See what happens live With Andy Cohen. “And I love the way she does the song. She sings it that way and meets the challenge of that song. It’s a lot of fun.” Mayer also confessed that his 2017 song “Still Feel Like Your Man” was about his relationship with Perry.
