What is the maximum level in Super Mario RPG?
In Super Mario RPG, your character can reach the highest level, although not everyone can get there. As you progress through the story and face different monsters in battle, your Mario RPG party earns experience points. They all level up at the same rate, but since they start at different levels it’s difficult to keep everyone on the same level. The only sure way is to take them all to the highest level.
Reaching higher levels in a Mario RPG is important for two reasons: your character’s stats will go up, and they’ll learn new moves. Each time they level up, their stats will get a small boost. They can also choose perks from one of three categories: Physical (increases defense and base attack damage), Life (increases maximum health), or Magic (increases special attack damage). Each character can also learn special moves at specific levels. Even though the game isn’t super hard, it feels great to reach the highest level and make your character as powerful as possible. It’s also a great help against some of the toughest bosses in Mario RPG.

Do players need to reach the highest level in Super Mario RPG?
Luckily, you don’t have to max out everyone to successfully complete Super Mario RPG. All characters gain a final attack at level 18, so after that you’ll mainly get occasional stat boosts. By the end of the game, most players are in their mid-20s, which is enough to defeat the final boss with ease. What’s unique about Mario RPG is its role-playing combat – instead of having random encounters, Mario only fights enemies he physically hits on the field, so you can avoid most fights if you want.
Super Mario RPG does have a tougher post-game phase that requires challenging rematches with stronger versions of the main bosses. While some quests can be completed at lower levels, for bosses after the last few games, it’s a good idea to reach level 30, even if it means doing some grinding.
Although Mario RPG has a level cap of 30, not everyone needs to reach that level. Fighting enemies regularly as you move through each area is enough to safely complete the main game. It may be helpful to reach max level before the final post-game boss, but it’s not strictly necessary. What’s more important is making sure your character has the best gear and mastering the timing of attacks and defenses in Super Mario RPG.

Super Mario RPG
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a video game released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was the last Mario game released on the SNES and was directed by Chihiro Fujioka and Yoshihiko Maekawa. Shigeru Miyamoto serves as the producer, and Yoko Shimomura is responsible for the soundtrack.
The game’s story follows Mario and his friends as they try to defeat the Blacksmith Gang, who have invaded their world and scattered Star Road’s seven star fragments. It is the first role-playing game (RPG) in the Mario series and is inspired by Square’s RPG series such as Final Fantasy. The main way to fight enemies is through turn-based combat, with teams of up to three characters. Super Mario RPG is also the first game in the Mario series to be played in an isometric 3D environment, adding a new dimension to exploration and platforming similar to the Super Mario series.
The game received critical acclaim, especially for its humor and 3D graphics. It was the inspiration for Nintendo’s other role-playing series, Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi, both of which have some gameplay elements.
The game was released on the Wii Virtual Console in 2008 and later became available on the Wii U Virtual Console in 2015. It is also part of the 2017 Super NES Classic Edition.
The Nintendo Switch remake, developed by ArtePiazza, was released globally on November 17, 2023, and received positive reviews from critics.
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario RPG has elements that are reminiscent of other games developed by Square, such as the Final Fantasy series. Its story and gameplay are based on the Super Mario Bros. series of platformers. The game follows the typical structure of a Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), with two main parts: adventure and turn-based combat sequences.
In the game, most of the gameplay takes place outside of monster battles, similar to an isometric 3D platformer. Traditional Mario elements, like hitting floating question blocks, are prominent in these sections. It’s worth noting that there are no random encounters here; enemies are visible on the battlefield, and combat only occurs when Mario comes into contact with them, allowing players to avoid unnecessary fights.
The player’s team starts with Mario and expands to five characters. In combat, Mario and up to two other members can take part, and players can swap them out while exploring the world. Each character has a unique set of attacks and techniques. For example, Princess Toadstool focuses on healing, while Geno and Bowser have powerful offensive abilities. Combat uses a traditional turn-based system, with action commands including timed button presses to enhance the action. This feature became a staple of subsequent Mario role-playing games. Players select actions such as attacking, defending, running, using items, or casting magic from the combat menu at the beginning of each round.

However, a giant living sword named “Exor” crashes into Bowser’s castle, knocking Mario, Princess Toadstool and Bowser into different directions and scattering seven star fragments. Mario teams up with Tadpole Marlowe to retrieve the stolen Frog Coin. They discover that the Blacksmith Gang are followers of the evil robot blacksmith King Smith, who have taken over the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Marlo defeat the gangster Mike and find the mysterious star fragment.
Mario and Marlowe, together with Geno, the star spirit who lives in the puppet’s body, embark on a mission to collect seven star fragments and restore the broken star road.
