Drake Milligan had a passion for music and his parents, Jim and Angela Milligan, played a major role in making that a reality. Jim and Angela were married on February 15, 1991.

According to Fort Worth WeeklyDrake Milligan first developed an interest in music as a child while listening to his father’s record collection. The Mansfield native spent hours playing country legends like Merle Haggard and George Jones.

Oddly enough, though, it was seeing an Elvis impersonator perform at a 1950s-themed burger joint when he was just seven that really set him on the path to his own musical career, one that has now officially come to an end with the release of his self-titled debut EP last week. The melancholy pedal steel bends and lonely lyrics certainly struck a chord somewhere inside him.

Drake first heard about Elvis when he was eight years old. He read books and watched documentaries to learn everything he needed to know about him. He played Elvis in a low-budget short film No one in 2014.

Drake moved from North Texas to Tennessee. Since moving there, he has immersed himself in the Nashville songwriting scene, listening to the heroes who wrote his favorite childhood tunes tell their stories. He decided to pursue his next passion, becoming a self-taught songwriter. His connections have given him the opportunity to learn from industry giants like Dean Dillon (Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, George Strait), Bruce Bouton, and others (Garth Brooks, George Jones).

Meet AGT Drake Milligan’s Mom, Angela Clover Milligan

Drake Milligan’s mother is Angel Clover Milligan, the daughter of Glen E. Clover and Sue Ginn Clover. Her father, Glen, graduated from Chandler High School as valedictorian in 1956. Receiving an NROTC scholarship, he graduated from Harvard College in 1960. After graduation, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy, where he became a Naval Aviation Officer assigned to Patrol Squadron 26 in Brunswick, Maine.

For his contributions to the Cuban Missile Blockade in 1962, Glen was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. In 1964, Ed left the Navy and returned to his native Oklahoma, where he attended the University of Oklahoma School of Law.

After graduating in 1967, Glen moved to Houston with the law firm of Liddell, Austin, Dawson and Sapp. While practicing law, Ed was licensed in both Texas and Oklahoma. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas.

Glen was a lifetime member of the State Bar of Texas, the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the Harris County Bar Association. Sadly, she lost her father on May 17, 2008 at the age of 70.
