He is the son of Michael A. Marusarz and Grace Elaine Roof. Sadly, both have passed away — on September 16, 2016 and October 5, 2021, respectively.
His father, Michael, was born on May 24, 1936 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked at Morton Salt until 1970, where he was injured on the job. He was also an active member of the Sportsmans Club, Legion, and VFW.
As for his mother, Grace was born on August 12, 1938. She was the primary caregiver to her husband after his tragic accident at Mortan’s Salt.

He then joined KSHB/KMCI/The EW Scripps Company the following year and News 12 Long Island in December 2009.
